| Hey, I have to do this 50 question thing for my dance class and one of the question is, "list 9 different ball room dances" and so far the only ones I can find are, foxtrot, quickstep, waltz, viennese waltz, tengo, and polka. If any of u people know any other ones please e-mail me at Aberfitchbabe87@aol.com. Thanks. |
| I'm sure the question is meant to include the Latin styles as well... Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Mambo, Merengue, etc.
If the question was limited to the smooth ballroom dances, you could really only have seven: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Polka, and Peabody. |
| Polka's smooth? Well, I suppose it's not rhythm. PantherSon, international style has 10 dances -- waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, cha cha, samba, rumba, paso doble, jive. (You forgot VW.) American style has 9 dances -- waltz, tango, foxtrot, Viennese waltz, cha cha, rumba, swing, bolero, mambo. This assumes you're talking about the dances done in competition. If they want a total of 9 dances then chances are they want the American style competition dances. If you're talking about ballroom in general though there are plenty of other dances that get played at socials around here including but not necessarily limited to west coast swing, polka, hustle, salsa, Argentine tango, merengue. -- James Marshall marshall@astro.umd.edu http://www.astro.umd.edu/~marshall |
| I think it mentions the 4 Int'l ballroom dances: Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango; and the 5 Int'l Latin dances: Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble
