I meant to say more in my reply.
Assuming you're a youngish person (under 40, say)you should get your dance teacher to look at your technique. You're probably doing something wrong to cause the bursitis.
Make sure you stretch and warm up before getting into your rigorous training - this is so often ignored by dancers, yet damage can be done if your body is not loosened up and warmed up.
When the problem has been cured, remember to treat your hip with respect and stretch the appropriate muscles. You physiotherapist will give you all the advice you need.
My experience with GP's is that they're not very knowledgeable on sports injuries and will probably just suggest rest. Maybe where you live they're better
