to sell a dress

I have 3 latin dresses that I need to sell...what's the best way to go about this? They have only been worn once, and although I got a lot of interest in them at the comp., I am size 4/6 so there were very few people who could fit them. I am posting on the classifieds here but there has got to be a better way! Thanks!

To Admin.-- Didn't mean to impugn the excellent classifieds service that you are running at Ballroomdancers.com!! The opportunity to get pictures out internationally is great...just thinking that there ought to be something more pro-active that I could do...I've heard that some comps have a set time that they have a "dress sale" in the hotel, where people can bring their own dresses for sale as well as view the designers collections who are attending the comp.. If anyone else has seen this, can you tell me which comps? And, why don't they do this more often?

To Ken--
Thanks for the tip, I must have used the wrong keywords b/c the only ballroom items I found were non-clothing. I'll try again, thanksundefined

Have you tried handing them over to consignment? I bet if you look up in the dance directory you can find some in your area. (or if you ask real nice maybe Jonathan can make a listing for consignment vendors!!!)It is great this way because you do not have to cart them around to all the comps yourself. Usually the seller takes 10 maybe 15 percent...so take that into account when setting a price.

As a fan of Ebay, I was curious about the availability of ballgowns there. I checked for myself just now, and by searching "ballgown", "ballroom", "ballroom dress", "ballroom competition", and "ballroom costume" I was able to find a few dresses one could dance in, but not a single actual competitive ballgown. Perhaps one could occasionally find one there, but definitely slim pickings.

If I missed something, someone please tell me!
