Can I have a description of this figure please.

It's more or less a grapevine commencing in PP.

Man:
1. RF forward & across in PP & CBMP
2. LF side
3. RF back in CBMP, partner outside
4. LF side & sligtly forward
5. RF forward in CBMP, outside partner

(steps 3-5 are essentially a feather finish w/ lady commencing o.p.)

Lady:
1. LF forward & across in PP & CBMP
2. RF diag forward, preparing outside partner
3. LF forward in CBMP, outside partner on left
4. RF side
5. LF back in CBMP, partner outside

The entire figure is counted SQQQQ.

A Natural Turn is a turn to the right. This version of the Zig Zag has a right-turning entry, hence the name Natural Zig Zag.

Although they don't exist in the ISTD syllabus, other versions of a Zig Zag or "Grapevine" action can be danced. One such version would be to have the lady close to the man (as in a Feather Finish counted QQQ), and then re-open to PP on the 4th Quick. Since the lady is turning to the left to commence the action, you might refer to it as a Basic Zig Zag from PP, or possibly a Reverse Zig Zag from PP. As you can see, the qualifier we place at the beginning gives us some insight into how the figure is executed.

I assume the CBM on 1 and 3 is for the lady who seems to be going around the man while turning left.

Why is this baby called Natural? (I don't like the term "beast" that Americans use)
