I'm trying to find some on-line video or written instructions for Samba Bachacatas and I can't find anything! Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Crazy for Dancing. I'm not sure you will find anything written for Bachacatas. If you want to see them performed. If you can find the Original Burn the Floor when the whole company perform them. It comes just after the guy with the scarf around his head does some dangerous looking swinging of his partner.
Otherwise if you have ever done Cha Cha Back Locks ( Latin Crosses, feet turned out ) It can work if you think of lock with the feet as close together as is possible and still move. You will see Bachacatas done in the Cha's as well as the Samba. In the Cha it is usually when the lady is apart from the man and wishes to use up a couple of bars of music whilst the man is spinning or something.Start back LF and count 2 and 3 and 4 and 1. Samba count 1 and 2. 2 and 2 3 and 2. 4 and 2.What you will be actually doing is step replace replace and repeat other foot first. If you are really into this I would get hold of the video. Look to see what is done with the arms and hands for an added effect. A Latin Cross by the way is Toe to Heel. It is not a Lock Step where the feet point in the same direction. Bachacatas feet turned out and very close together. There is no time to do a large movement so don't try.Good Luck.

Okay-- heres the basic for Bachata--

Commence side left 3 small steps --tap on 4-- repeat the same to the right

This can then be repeated fwds and back.

There is NO hook behind in bachata -- thats from Cumbia-- different country of origin ( Colombia and Dom. rep.)

Bachata is danced in closed position, and the style is very complex . For expert afficianados, it uses contra rhythms in the basic .
I frequently teach my beginner salsa classes a basic in bachata which always is recd. well.

Many of the basics from Rumba ( sq ) and other dances have been implemented-- they do however depart from the integrity of the dance .

I always hesitate to post descriptions of indigenous dances, because it is nigh impossible, to describe the colors and texture that make up most of the movements .
Ive seen videos on the net by so called " experts ? "-- " Caveat emptor "
My suggestion-- go to a Latino club and watch the different styles .

Having trouble with Batucadas
We can all do a Back Lock on our Left and then our right Cha Cha style. All you need do is do them nearly on the spot, very tight. Yes, they are also in the Cha counting 2 and 3 4 and 1. do as many as you like.
