Tango head turns

Is there a technique involved in those side to side head turns in tango? They are quite fast disorienting and uncomfortable for my neck especially when done repeatedly during practice. Thanks.

My mom, who loves watching the competitions on
TV, can't stand "that ridiculous head snapping stuff" in Tango. "It makes my neck hurt just to watch that!" she says.

In any case, how 'bout this solution: During long hours of practice, only do that head snapping now and then. Then, when it comes time for the show, your neck will still be in one piece.

Or slow motion practice?

I thought that at least to some extent this was something of an illusion. If the body turns quickly while the head stays in place, it can look like you turned your head really fast. You can accent the illusion by turning your head in the opposite direction of your body, making the turn look even faster. You're probably better off getting advice from someone who actually does this type of move though.
