"overhang" in latin shoes

I had heard from more than a few sources that ideally a lady should have some "toe overhang" in her latin shoes. But this past weekend at "Dancing A La Carte" in Springfield Mass, I made particular note of the ladies dancing at pre- and championship level Latin. There was quite a bit of space between their toes and the ends of their shoes. Is this something new, or have I been misinformed all these years?
Thanks,
Melissa

That's what I was told. I've tried it both ways and found that I like it when the shoe ends just where my toes start to curve up. If they're shorter, my toes scrape the floor all the time and I get horrible callouses and scratches from the floor. If they're longer, I can't "grab" the floor as much, and when I point they're way long. Bottom line is, whatever makes you feel most comfortable - that's the right fit. If it feels weird or distracting in any way, that's not the right fit for you.

I've seen people with toes hanging way over too - not for me, it feels like dancing barefoot, and I think it drags down spins. But it works for them!
