Please help me with dancing

Hi,
I'm in need of desperate help. I'm one of those people who should have learned how to dance long time ago. I have prom in a few weeks and I don't know how to dance and I can't take a class because my schedule is really tight. I know I sound really stupid but I hope some of you can help me out by emailing me and giving me full instructions on how to dance at prom, not any of those fancy dances just the typical dance people do at events like this. For example, where do the hands go, the steps, how long should you dance for, etc. Any help would be greatly and I mean greatly appreciated. Thanks. Please email me at sharkball@hotmail.com. Thanks again.

Well I assume you will be leading a woman. The easiest dance for the prom is called a "foxy". It's a slow version of the Foxtrot. It works for slow songs like top 40 ballards. You'll have to place your right arm just under the womans's left shoulder blade. Hold her other hand with your other hand. Bend at the elbow so that you make the letter V with your arm. You should stand straight,, slightly off center from each other. You'll be dancing all slow counts. As a rule, you'll always start on your right foot. Take 2 steps forward (a natural stride) and then on the 3rd step you will sway to the right and then sway to the left. When I say sway I mean your shifting your weight from one side to the other. You can add a turn by Lifting your left arm and gently guide the woman under your arm (you can also lead this by pushing your right hand on her back toward the lifted arm). Then after you finish the turn you should be in dance position and sway sway again. I hope this makes sense to you. Let me know. Gracie
