Too late to start competing?

I'm 24 years old and started ballroom dancing one year ago. I got hooked right away and a few months after starting social dance lessons, I knew I wanted to compete. My mindset is if I am going to do something, do it to the highest level.

Anyway, my question is did I start too late to become a competitive ballroom dancer? Needless to say, the teenagers at the studio are very good. I don't know if I'll ever be as good as they are. I've been training for 10 months with my instructor and I feel that I've made some good progress. But who am I to judge

My first competition is this weekend so I will see how my training (and money) paid off. For the past two months, I've been practicing for two hours or more at least three days a week. My instructor is excellent. She also competes and is doing very well this year. Will the proper dance instruction and lots of practice produce a good competitive ballroom dancer out of me at this age?

Thanks in advance!

Gilbert
