I am living in Taiwan.

I take ballroom dancing lesson (group and one-by-one). But I don't really go to a studio ballroom. Becuase the economic reason.

I had bought some book like "The techenique of Latin" and "The technique of ballroom", But I don't think it work if you never see them had been dancing by yourself.

Althought I had learn Cha Cha, Waltz, V Waltz, Taiwan Tango, Jive, Gitterbug (3 and 6 steps style), Rumba, basic Samba. Among those Dance I thought Waltz is the most difficut, because I can lead and keep balance very well.

My teacher almost never talk about the figures name and any theniques, like as footwork ,CBM,CBMP and so on.(I don't know those them untill I read them from books).

They just show us the steps and dance with me, sometime told me how to dance will be better,
Ballroom learning in Taiwain seems too be notorious. Because theacher don't want to teach you too much, they try to hide the basic and important part so that you must keep learn for a very long long time, althought I learn it very hard. but it don't work unless some good one talk your the tips.

Of course money can resolve this problem.

I hope some nice people here can tall how to learn it well and correctly by youself, especially how to lead well Waltz and V Waltz. The good poisture ? the technique ? Frame or something?

Thank you very much

I suggest that you get some good dance video tapes to supplement your private lessons. For example: Victor and Heather's International standard syllabus tapes from www.dancevision.com. Make sure you do not buy any "American style" tapes. They are not for ballroom dancing in Taiwan.

By the way the tapes are not cheap, about $50 each. But they are excellent. Good luck.
