Picture Lines

1. I notice in the ISTD & IDTA syllabus for FOXTROT that picture lines (oversway, throw-away, same-foot lunge, etc.) are not included. Yet, I see (on PBS TV) dancers performing these at ballroom competions (where ISTD rules apply). How come? When are picture lines allowed?

2. If picture lines are allowed, can you list those picture line figures permissible in ISTD competitions? Are picture lines interchangable - e.g. those allowed in waltz are also allowed in foxtrot?

3. I can't find picture lines in the ISTD or IDTA syllabus books. Can you recommend a book?null
