Hello,

My name is Shawn McMarlin and I am a female dance instructor in Columbiana, Ohio. I work for Jim Ferris and Suzanne Gelinas at a studio called Always Dancin'. Suzanne is one of Canada's former International Latin champions and Theater Arts champions. She and her husband, Jim Ferris, were ranked in the top five in the U.S. in American Latin and American Smooth. I teach both American and International styles. when I'm not dancing, I can usually be found doing martial arts or riding my horse, DreamDancer.
I am new to the computer world and would love some dancing email friends. I can be reached at SMDreamDancer@aol.com

Welcome, Shawn!
I am also a dance instructor, mostly independent, but one day a week I'm at a studio in Malden. I only teach American so far, and mostly just to wedding couples working on their first dance. This is a slow time of year for me, so I'm hoping to add some coaching for myself to my schedule. I was preparing to compete with my amateur partner in some pro/am comps, but he's not able to now, so I'm pretty discouraged. I just put his tail suit and my two International gowns up for sale. Maybe in the spring we could try again, but I'm not getting any younger!
Anyway, nice to hear from you, take care,
Lee Ann

Weddingdance,

Nice to meet you. I wanted to email you straight, but I don't know your email address. I would love to have another female dance instructor to talk to. I am currently looking for a professional dance partner to compete with. I know how difficult it is to find a good partner and I understand your disappointment in not getting to compete. I also work in an independent studio it is just under the ownership of Jim and Suzanne. I used to work for one of the franchizes, but I prefer the independent scene! I am usually more busy this time of year but I just switched to the new studio and it takes time to build up clients. I too am taking this time to get a lot of coaching and better my dancing. I wish you the best of luck teaching and dancing! It really is the best job in the world!!!!!

Shawn,

Welcome to the group! And thank you for introducing yourself. I hope more people follow your example and do the same. I think people become much more relaxed, friendly, and open to discussion after they have been introduced.

You had mentioned that you wanted to email weddingdance, but couldn't find an email address. It's there, but you have to know where to look...

On any message posted by a member, you can find their email address (if they have decided to reveal it) by clicking on the little mail icon, which can be found right above the message.

But of course, we prefer that you keep the conversation going here on the message board, so that everybody can join in and learn from each other. That's what the message board is here for!

Sincerely,
Jonathan Atkinson, Administrator
