Dance enriches every age!

Too late for what? Developing self confidence and social skills? I've seen wonderful transformations in youth your age. 30-somethings and 40-somethings as well. For healthy exercise? Energetic rounds challenge the most fit athletes while the rest of us tailor dance to our needs. Physical fitness, emotional expression, connectedness, or just keeping old bodies limber and pain free; dance beats boring calisthenics any day. Dedication, goal development, a positive body image, challenging obstacles, overcoming failure? These will serve your whole life, and there's no better time than the early teens to start.

Winning the world championships? Life is a journey of many paths, not one fixed destination. People dancing late bring life experience to dance; people starting early can use dance the rest of their life. Refusing to begin; refusing to learn along the path; that is the only way to lose.

O for sure it's not too late! Yes, some of the best ballroom dancers started when they were little but I know people that started when they were in their late teens. FOR EXAMPLE...CARMEN, THE REIGNING WORLD LATIN CHAMPION, started when she was seventeen years old. That gives a lot of hope to me because like you I've just started also and I'm 19. My instructor also started when he was 19 and he is a National Rising Star Finalist. Another one of his younger students he taught to become a professional in 2 years! So as long as you have the drive and the passion(and the time and the money! you can take ballroom to wherever you want to go...and thats whats so wonderful about it, and thats whats made me fall completely in love with it. Not to mention you're 14! By the time you're 18 you could be full blown awesome...keep on it and good luck!

Not at all; I didn't start until I was 26. In fact most people I know do so long after they are pass their teen years.

I think that there is a growing number of people your age getting into dancing now.

I started at 16 and am now 17... I thought it was too late to start too, until I discovered that the best dancers at my danceschool didn't start until they were 18. In fact, I know someone who started dancing after her 50's! So, it's never too late

Wow UlfChild, congrats! That pretty dang good to be a teacher so soon and young. Good luck in your dancing

Well number one, no it's not too late. I didn't start until I was 18 and now i'm a teacher at 19. So, no it's not too late... follow your dreams and chase the heavens cuz even if you miss you'll fall among the stars and I wish you all the luck in the world. Maybe we'll end up competing against each other someday *wink*

Second, if you were gonna do it no matter what anyone on here said..... why bother asking for our opinion? *smile*
