I'm from the UK. The original form of Paso Doble that formed the basis of our competitive and social dance came from France, which the reason for the French names of some of the figures eg Huit. However as with all dancing, influences have been included. Whilst the overall thrust of the dance is supposed to be about death (ie fighting and killing a bull) Spanish Flamenco and the Spainiard's version of Paso Doble the name of which escapes me have also influenced the development of modern Paso Doble. This has given us such figures as Flamenco Taps.
