re: Mambo/Salsa

Hou will probably get a lot of responses to your question regarding difference between Mambo and Salsa. My wife Shirley and I just completed workshop with Angel Figurora at the Worlds 2000 dance compl in Nashville this week end. He stressed that leaders should adjust to what followers know about Mambo and Salsa that being if the follow wants to break on 1 that's OK If the follow wants to break on 2 that's OK also. The point is dont get caught up in break on 1 or 2 . It's a good idea for the lead to ask the follow which is preferred, if it doesn't matter(trained follow and lead) go the the break on 2 otherwise just do it and have fun. Personally, we break on 2 but have danced socially with follows who only know to break on 1 so I go for it. Hope this helps. Patterns danced in Mambo can be danced inSalsa. Suggest you consider subscribing to new dance mag called 5678 published by Mr. Barry Durand who is one of the top dance instructors and performer in the world. www.5678.com good luck and keep on dancin John K
