I am at a studio learning to dance ! and i have very big crush in quickstep ! the problem is that no women want to dance it ! they all prefer mostly latin dances and tango !!! i have asked about 15 women to dance quickstep and they say that they do not like the music and the dance ? isn't that a bit weird ?

I'm one of them and I totally agree! here's nothing wrong with quickstep but the other dances are more interesting and alive in a way

Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance the Quickstep
what makes u not like the Quickstep ?
Almost nobody dances sober, unless they happen to be insane.

I don't know. I love QS. (And I love all the dances except American style.) Actually it is our best dance at competitions for now. I don't know which level you dance, but as a follower if I am not confident about the leader's skill, I may get uncomfortable dancing QS with him, though.

Foxtrot and quickstep are both difficult dances: they rely on good technique to amount to anything, whereas you can get away with very little to make a latin or the other ballroom dances look good.

Perhaps that's part of the answer. The dance doesn't really come alive unless you can do it well and with quite advanced figures and technique (which lots of us struggle with).

"The dance doesn't really come alive unless you can do it well and with quite advanced figures and technique (which lots of us struggle with)."

Secure "bronze" competition practice should be quite appropriate to comfortably and considerately dancing quickstep at a social.

"it is so alive !! the rythm is so wild ! and the music is so smooth ! and it glam too!!!! i can't understand !!!! "

One of the issues with quickstep is remembering to calm down. The tempo is brisk, but you don't want to be spastic, you want to be smooth. Advanced competitors may look like they are really letting loose, but they are doing so in the context of years of practice at holding things together. You can't let loose until you have some secure foundation.

I didn't say that you can't get by, but that the dance doesn't come alive. I'm suggesting, of course, that this may be part of the reason why some dancers don't like it.

If it doesn't come alive, then you don't yet understand the elements you are using.

You don't need fancy choreography to make something come alive, you need mastery (to your own moderate satisfaction) of what you are using.

The people who really don't like it most likely do not have basic competence in the fundamental type of moving through steps action involved. Without that it would be quite uncomfortable.

I personally think that the quickstep is the dance which will showcase anyone's weaknesses when it's not a choreographed routine. Mistakes will be bigger and more obvious if either the leader or follower doesn't have great technique.
