I do understand what youve said but theres another wrench thrown into the mix. As anyone who has taught knows there is not much hope of living well on a teachers salary unless of course your a superb dancer or a coach. Being relatively new at this I teach a good 55 - 65 hours a week. And as any dancer knows we dont seem to work before noon and thats early!!!! Aside from the fact that its a tiny tiny world and everyone seems to know everyone in this field. I have twice gone to find coaches of my own and have twice been told on by my "coach" My boss stopped that very quickly. I cant exactly not tell my teacher/coach that I teach...lord forbid I try to compete...leaving my current studio is also not an option...my only other teaching option is Manhatten and I cant get hired with the training I have. My boss is a generally kind person and I think it may have something to do with the fact the more training, the better the dancer, the higher the salary and the greater risk they will leave for a more prestigious career, I just dont know anyway to go about this without severly burning bridges I would like to keep intact.

Ken believe me I have asked myself those questions quite a few times. The answers are simple. I want to dance, I want to teach I could easily stand for hours repeating side together forward, side together back because I know it will eventually go somewhere. This is what I want to do, i just dont know how to do it

I know a great studio in Connecticut that insists on improving yourself for yourself and for your students. They consistantly bring in top U.S. and Canadian coaches for training.
