american and international style

Ok, i'll begin like this. I'm from Germany - so may you excuse my grammar and word problems ^^

I'm here for a few months and I heard about 'the american style'. I read a couple of articles but I didn't recognize any diffrence except the rumba rythm, which is, like I understood, nearly like Salsa, and the Tango/Walz, which occours in more open positions.

What I want to hear is, whether (and when, how) I can tranfair figures from the international into the american style.

The difference between chacha american und chacha international, I didn't found jet, so maybe you can help me. ;)
