i'm assuming we're talking about the slow waltz here. First, some basic 'mechanics'. Long flowing strides are needed, and you can't take a long step (on beat 1) without bending the knees and going down. Then on beat 2 there is often a bit of hover (there's another discussion thread on this)during which time your body comes up, then on beat 3 you are preparing for the next beat 1.
How you feel about the music and your dance interpretation of it is a highly personal thing - how do you feel when you eat a piece of chocolate???
With the right music, i often get a feeling of "oh that feels exquisite" as i go into a little hover on beat 2 - especially if i get it right!!. But whether there's a corresponding look of rapture on my face - i've no idea. I feel a bit daft trying to explain this - but you did ask!!
