Hi there

Can I correct the misapprehension that there is a slight hesitation in Viennese Waltz. The timing is just 123. Any hesitation felt whilst dancing will be due to holding the 3rd beat too long usually causing the closing step then to be snatched. This is a common fault when trying to put expression into the dance. The expression should come from using pressure through the ankles. There should be a feeling of going down into the centre of a saucer and coming up the other side. Although there is rise and fall, this must not be overdone - it's a lot less than that felt in normal Waltz.

To help get rid of snatching try dancing just closed changes adding the sway when you feel comfortable followed by the turn to right and left.
