Good connection -?

Hi, everyone:
I have some questions.
(1)Acorrding some experienced lady, she said, a good connection will let them feel arising and holding them, she would feel that before starting to dance (when dance VW, she felt like dancing automatically without touching ground!). I tried , but I was used to use more force with my right hand to left, or with my left wrist to left her under her arm pit. But I knew it was'nt a right way. Becuase, she I pull her close to me, and let her felt not so good (and still couldn't feel rising and holding). Someone told me using upper arm and elbow to establish good connetion. But I still didn't know how to do?
(2)Acorrding some experienced lady, when she danced Waltz or VW(more apparent) with a good skilled man. She could feel a push-power of feet, to drive her to backward the right feet, it happen every first beat("1",2,3), or some hestiation fiqure. So, Did it mean I should rise and slight push my feet fwd at just downbeat(1,2,3"&") of 3 of waltz to give her a kind of indication which feet should move?
(3)When dancing VW, how to breath will be better? breath out when outside turn, breath in when inside turn?

Thanks in advance
