For one thing, don't capitalize every word in your post. It's not as bad as all caps, but it's still annoying.

Okay, regarding your dancing, maybe a change would do you good--if you can. You say you're at a studio, so it may not be possible, but maybe you should change your coach(es) for a bit. That might give you a different perspective. Also, um, maybe a partner change is in order, since your current one doesn't soun very supportive.

With your post the idea maybe that you have too mant coaches for dancing is the owner frustrated with your danceing or the student treatment or what. So I'll plow ahead ewith the dance it is sounding as if your information is too scattered. Do you have one dance coachor teacher who is regularly developing just your body control and expressions skills. Ie. do you hire the studio owner or his chosen mentor over and above the teachers traingin class for you an extra two hours a week or more. Have you chosen your next goal? Its hard to improve when you already good for your setting but which pond do you want to impress in. do you agree with your partners goal and are you working on it 3 hours a day on your own? If you feel coaches are redirecting you at each coaching sessions stick wqith oine who knows your learning style and is available to you whenever you need it ie your local tacher/coach. good luck short version choose a goal, stick to it and continue with one dedicated mentor. Bonne Chance!j. ??+

Frustrations

I Understand where you are coming from. But have faith things will change before you know it. My partner and I get frustrated at each other on occasion and we just have to sit back and realize that everyone progresses at a different pace. There will be the day that you will take off like a rocket and people will go wow!! My current boss never thought I would be better than an Average teacher. Now I one of his best. It just takes time and patience.

So, have you talked to these coaches, and especially your partner about this? Someone mentioned the idea in a previous post that maybe you've got a few too many influences...that can happen, but generally I think the more the merrier. What you may have trouble doing is forming your own ideas about where you want your dancing to go. Remember that dance is largely subjective...ask 10 coaches about the proper body position for a paso step and it's entirely possible that you'll get 10 different answers. At 20 you pretty much need to choose one person that you can trust...and make them your mentor. The highest authority so to speak. However, get everyone's opinion, you are old enough to decide what feels and looks best to you. Also...how do you know that you are not improving at the speed that _they_ would like? Perhaps you need to sit down with your partner and make some concrete goals...it could help you work, but also give you some reassurance about how you are progressing. I do think that these dancers don't sound very supportive...but have you been honest with them about your feelings? Coaches work so much that they can seem a little unfeeling sometimes...but they demand excellence only where they know that it is possible ..if you weren't good then maybe they wouldn't be pushing you?
My way out of a rut...practice, but go out and dance socially...disco, latin, ballroom, with anyone, especially with your partner if she's fun...learn to just mess around again. Just have fun...make stuff up, who cares if you step on one another occasionally...it's about feeling good in your own movements...and about having fun
