Outstanding suggestion. I learned a great deal when I had our performance taped during a competition. It cost me $60 but it was the best money that I've spent on dancing.
I would also advise readers to make arrangements to have a friend or family member serve as camera operator. Some instructors may be willing to do so but one should be sure to ask first.
Just setting the camera on a tripod and trying to dance in front of it is problematic (other couples dancing in the way, etc.). Also, you'll wind up recording a lot of stuff that you don't want.
