There are numerous " changes " to standard variations that experienced Profs dance in comp. settings.

the danger here is emulation without the knowledge of its ( the enhanced variation ) basic construction as proposed by the book.

Any pro worth his salt, is more than aware of all the tweaking we are able to do within the context of rhythmical interpretation, and still bring a pleasing result .

If one does not have the capabilty to perfect foundational movement, then whatever is added or changed, will cause innumerable problems .

NO! NO! NO!

You could not possibly make a worse choice for someone to give you dance instruction.

Find a local instructor and start learning the basics.

jinjilo. Are there any Ballroom Teachers in your area. It isn't possible to learn from just writing or books. It does need hands on. If you are able I would recomend that you think about starting in a Bronze Medal Class. You might even find a partner there of your own standard. Other than that go to Learn The Dances on this site and choose the International Style Standard and start with the Waltz
Closed Changes. The very best of luck to you.

Polished, I know to "isn't possible to learn from just books". I treined a Ballroom dancing for seven years. But the Ballroom Teachers aren't a professional in my area. That's why my level (klass) is more little.
I prefer a Standart and a Lathin. I need a partner for a trein or the partner for the trein and the growth of professional.

Pivots have been (one of my) nemesis(es) for two years. Gah.

Two things I remember before I kind of blank out and think "This will be over soon" is head-weight, and he goes, then she goes.

The "he goes, she goes" idea only works for a series of pivots. It won't help in a figure such as a Spin Turn - which is a good figure to practice, because all the elements of a pivot are there, but it's also quite an easy figure to dance.

Yes, but the "find a happy place" works for the most part interchangeably
