I also did not see that competition; however, you should keep in mind that when dancers are being ranked, the judges have to decide who is the best, not necessarily whether or not each couple is "doing it right." If all of the couples are missing a certain style, there's not much the judge can do on the scorecard. Also, even if one couple is doing the best motion and they lose, all that may mean is that they messed up something more important, like being on time to the music.

Dance, like language, is fluid and vernacular. As languages change over time though usage, so too does dance. Pushing the limits of the form is generally rewarded in competitions, especially at the high levels. I think this tends to make the dances evolve as time goes on. There will be purists who want dance to stay static; there will be creative people who want it to change.

I think ballroom will survive, but whther it will be exactly the same or will change and how quickly is an open question .

but, I did not ask "where are the syllabus or where is the basic technic". I asked where is the latin thecnic..
I think I could not explain what I ask... As you have written : if a dancer will be so free what are the latin technics done for.. at that time not a dancer but a ballet who can give more "expression" will be the first??
I am really dissapointed to hear that...
As you have written , the competition was wonderful, there were really good dances, and it was a perfect organization wiyh the live music...

Hello Ozan,
I did not see the same show that you saw, so I really can't say what the dancers were doing.
I can say that at the Gold Open level, dancers are allowed much more freedom for expression, and so you won't see so many recognizable syllabus steps.
I'm sure the show was very enjoyable to watch.
