I don't think the different heel will matter much for latin/swing dancing. The smooth heel would be better for smooth dances.

Another couple of alternatives for are either swing dance shoes which have a synthetic sole specifically designed for swing dancing or dance sneakers designed for jazz dancing (look like black sneakers). I know several swing and country dancers who wear these for club dancing. They are supposed to be very comfortable. the disadvantage to dance sneakers is they look like sneakers. Hoever, swing shoes are designed to look better, usually two-toned (black & white) uppers.

You should be able to find the dance sneakers anywhere that sells jazz dance shoes. Swing shoes may be harder to find unless there is an active swing dance scene in your area. I put a link to a place that sells swing shoes.
