I'm 17 and on the color guard of my high school's marching band. This upcoming season our show is "Carmen", music from the Spainsh Opera. I have been choosen to have a dance solo in the song to portray the part of Carmen. The music is moderatly slow. My band director wants to keep the latin dance feel, and the seductiveness that Carmen has, but at the same time add some ballroom dance techniques to go with the "opera" music. Unfortunatly the county cut our funds and the other section leader and myself are creating the flag routine. I know a little bit of modern dance but nothing helpful for this type of dancing. If you know of anywhere I could go to find videos or one-on-one instruction I would really appreciate it. If you need more information please ask me....

But I did see a production of Carmen that you might be able to find on video. It was done in th e 40's so Black and White and featured Black Americans. Instead, of a bullfighter, the one actor was a boxer. But the songs were in English, and it had a lot of dancing in it.

But you're best and cheapest(?) bet is try to find an independent dance instructor who would be willing to give you some moves or poses to add to your routine in exchange for acknowledgement. Probably someone who knows Paso Doble or Latin, or even Flemenco. Check your local community centers and ask to get in contact with their instructors. Don't be afraid to ask, the worse they can say is no.

I did a quick internet search on +colorguard +latin +choreography, +colorguard +spanish +choreography, and +colorguard +carmen +choreography and got lots of hits. I figured someone must have done it. You might even be able to find a tape of it. I've been to a few drum & bugle corps competitions & I'm sure I've seen Spanishy stuff, certainly lots of dramatic numbers that might go with Carmen. Watch those tapes. You might also rent/borrow from the library ballet tapes of Carmen, of you just want dance moves. Think Tango, Paso, Flamenco. Even the "Lord of the Dance" Irish dance troupe had a flamenco dancer in one of the shows - maybe you can get your hands on that tape.
