Complex situations require more detailed answers than just a sentence or two. If you don't like to read my posts because they're too long for you then feel free to not read them, but please don't criticize me for being factual and complete.

Hi, Firstly I do not have the knowlege that Don and Laura have with regards to the various associations and politics, however from a business perspective the size of the prize money impacts upon the depth of the competition and in turn the number of spectators. Sponsors want people to "watch" and hence there needs to be quality to hold the viewer. The tough part is removing the obstacles which I believe sit with various associations. These sought of obstacles also keep good people away who do not support groups where there is friction, inefficiencies and a lack of organisation. The right sponsors and depth of competitors will come together when the industry can come together as a unified body. This is a my business perspective.

Sandra. If you can find your way around Dancesport UK. you will know as much as myself on this particular matter. October 26th in Zurich The combining of the W D & DSC World Series and the IDSF Grand Slam into a World Super Series was discussed in principle.

I think it's going to be an exciting event Don, that's for sure. Are you going to be able to attend?

Laura. I really believe that this series would bring ballroom dancing to an audience never dreamed of a few years ago. Ballroom dancing for those who don't know is now very popular in China. They already have some highly placed competitors. Look at the Blackpool results. What is the poulation, is it a billion or more. If I am able to see one I will. If not I will be watching it on TV. My teachers are off to the Worlds at Blackpool Nov 19th. Which brings me to a ridicules thing. Search the Dancesport sites and not a word is spoken about this one, after all it is dancing. In a calender of World event I expect to see just that. Every dance event when and wherever.

Don, did you try looking on the IDSF and/or WD&DSC web sites? I'd expect to find listings of all comps they sanction there. As far as other "calendar" type web sites go, they tend to either rely on third-parties submitting the information or are run by volunteers, so you're not going to see the kind of consistency you would on the web sites run by the sanctioning organizations.

Laura. The competition that never was.
Doesn't get a mention. That IDSF are a tough mob. They list competitions that no IDSF person is to enter Shanghai Canada Penang and Malasia. In the 50's in the UK a dancer having won everything before him as a junior was making a mark in the Adults, when he entered and danced in a competition on the continent. This at that time was a no no. He received a five year ban which he never came back from, imposed by the British Board of Control. The name was Graham Strowebridge. I often wondered if he had gone to court what would have happened. Today he would have won hands down.
