Hey guys, I am dating a woman who is into ball room dacing. The only ballroom dancing I know is from movie and that looks very sexy and hot. Her partner is paying for her to attend a Rumba dance for 3 months. Can someone tell me more about this dance? From what I read here, it is a romantic dance.... am I just being childish? From reading all the disccussion here, it seems like people do get emotionally to each other....even professional and married people.

While rumba is a slow romantic dance, it's still just a dance. If you have a good relationship, you have nothing to worry about. Non-romantic dance partnerships are very common. However, she would likely appreciate it if you made the effort to learn dance so you could dance with her.

Deffense, almost similar thing happened or is happening to me and the matter is that I'm away from her, traveled fro work. Maybe there is no love in your case.
As they said, you can dance with her or watch her dancing while you'll be on fire.
If you're dating just to go out with her it's something else. If you don't like to dance and feel you can't support watching her dancing than better leave her.
If love is between, than it's how much you trust your love together.
And I'll tell you that to dance you should live it and feel it not just making steps with your partner, I can use the word "to be in harmony".
Good luck.

Deffense. Top Latin Dancers have been known to attend acting classes. Every gesture every movement of the arm or hands as been rehearsed over and over.If you want to see some acting within the dance get a copy of Vanessa Williams film Dance with Me. See how she holds the floor for some ten bars of Rumba without moving the feet. All acting.

Hello Worry!

Brave of you to venture out into a Web site like this and express your concern!

For many people dancing is more like a sport even though it looks like the couples are involved.

You don't want to constrain your girlfriend as that's an anti-pattern.

Try taking lessons for fun. It will help you to start understanding the culture and learn some cool new stuff!

Also, getting into dancing will desensitize you from jealousy. (I figure.) One way or the other it may change your life in ways that you can't predict.

On the other hand. In my humble opinion, there is concern for the fact that she isn't paying for her lessons. Never mind what kind of dance it is, I figure that this point of economics is the only issue to give thought too.

There is always a risk that she will find another gentleman (or you may find another lady) while she's doing her thing. Not any more with dancing than with any other sport or activity.

But the answer is to grow and not constrain or worry. Growing will increase your chances of getting what you want from life. Worrying will consume it!
