The best way to pursue a professional career in ballroom dancing is to start by working for a studio. Often times they provide training for you. Some studios provide more training than others, and so it may be necessary for you to supplement this training with private instruction that you finance yourself.

If you would like to see a directory of teachers and studios in your area, I suggest trying the international dance directory at www.dancedirectory.com. You might also try dancescape or dancevision, although I don't know how robust their directories are.

If you would like to pursue official certification as a professional, go to the ISTD website at www.istd.org. They can help you by arranging exams and suggesting teachers in your area as well.
