Comments on the Emerald? I wish we'd made the semi of the open. But we're very happy for our friends FJ & Natasha.

We didn't stay for much of the rest of it, so I can't comment on the other events or competitors this time. But I'd be very interested to hear what others had to say. So please, everyone, give us your thoughts!

It is a beautiful picture. I wonder how tall Jonathan is. I always thought he is very tall.

I think they're paranoid about new digital cameras that have limited MPEG/QuickTime features. Yes, my camera is capable of taking up to 2 minutes of video at a time (with sound), but it's hardly worth it. It's really only good for posting on a website and the image gets choppy, too. Also, banning spectator still-cameras is another way to make sure that the photographer at the comp gets some exclusive business. This is fine if he takes pictures of you, but like I said, I like to take pictures of other people so I can enjoy them myself.

Yeah, I took this picture. Unfortunately it came out blurrier than I would have liked. I've been hearing a rumor that they want to ban still cameras at comps... that would suck; I enjoy taking my own pictures.

I hadn't been to Emerald for the past two years. Overall, this was a positive experience. Despite being the most expensive comp, there was actually a semi-final in open amateur smooth, which made us happy

It was great just to go out and dance and temporarily forget about all the USABDA/NDCA nonsense.

Any other thoughts?

How in the heck can they do that? Half of the competitions in SF, don't even have a professional photographer anymore. (Besides, the guy that takes the award photos that is.)
