Lindy and West Coast lessons are not offered in my area. We travelled 4 hours to take a basic West Coast Class...which included sugar push, right and left pass. The Whips are taught in intermediate class. In looking at the videos on the ballroom dance site, I don't see alot of difference between a lindy basic and a west coast whip. Neither of these are danced in the clubs here...so don't have a good point of reference. Tell my untrained eyes (feet) what the difference is.

The difference is basically in the styling (emphasis basically). WCS is a more sexy, upright in posture dance, but it did evolve from lindy so there are many elements that are the same. I am mainly into lindy, and recently went to a WCS night. I did notice that sometimes the first triple step of the lindy basic/WCS whip was lost--probably to go with the difference in music. In general, it was the style that was different: WCS seems to be more latin-influenced and is NOT generally danced to SWING music.
