My opinion is it will die of because like line dance every week is a new step. No discipline in the dance for most people. Teacher don't teach a syballus keep making up new stuff. Little styling is fun added to the basic move once mastered. Last class I went to the modern teacher had us hopping like rabbits on 3. Crazy.

No. WCS is alive and well. Although highly interpretive and improvisational for the experienced dancer, there exists syllabi codifying the "Standard" figures, such as the United Country Western Dance Counsel's (UCWDC) WCS syllabi. The Annual Chicago Classic (https://thechicagoclassic.com/schedule/) showcases top dancers from across the country while providing workshops from beginner to advanced.
