Heart to heart ?

Hi, everyone:
I am coming again.
After practicing many times.
When I am dancing Waltz with lady currently.
I can gradually start listening the weight of both. And then I can move and turn with homanic feeling. That's meaning I can lead and she can follow well, at least I think so. Becuase I can feel there is just "one weight" not two again.
Althougn, it seems great, but I don't know if it is right or not.
Becuase (1): I just keep contact with her by my arms, but no body contact. Of course, I try keeping my frame stable all the time.
(2):Although I feel so smooth, but I know I just can focuse the weight of both and direction of movement, cannot care what steps I danced. So sometime I forget to dance variations but several simple basic figures all the time.
(3):My teachers told me several times about "keep your heart ot her heart". they meant keep a face to face position with lady. I can not reach it before or even when I focus on doing as hey asked, that make me can't turn enough amout of turn. But When I didn't care about what our related-position was, just care about weight of both, leaded her and then followed her, I could turn more enough than before easily without rush power. If I do so, can I keep heart to heart?

and that all

thank you

Your teacher is telling you to do the correct thing. The problem is that the description of heart to heart is not easily understood by untrained students. It is used to correct improper positions of competition dancers. Your teacher is not a teacher if this is the way you are being taught. It is necessary for the student to understand what the teacher wants before the student can attempt to do what is wanted. Your dance position sounds terrible and I am certain that you are not easy to dance with. You need a lot of basic instruction because if the dance position is bad everything else will be worse. You won't get what you need on the internet. Search elsewhere. Best of luck.

Hi,David :
Your answer suprised me!

My teacher told me "heart to heart" is to maintain each other's center line of body in line. But you are right, them didn't told me how and why to do so.

I guessed my situation might not so bad.

Why? When I said I didn't "focus on" or "care about", I just meant I didn't do "heart to heart" on purpose, that was because if I paid more attention at "heart to heart" (with my eyes),it seemed more hard to reach(I will try to use force to get it!).
Sorry, I thougt maybe I use the worng words to describe it last time.

And now I don't look at her too much. Just leading her and ,follow, leading. I use my the feeling of weight and moment as my eyes. So I take any next steps or action after just feeling her weight had reached balance and finish last step well.

Thank you David, I will ask my teacher to check my position again.

As for leading, now I can change many beginners (even them didn't remember figures well) and still leading well without problems by this methond. They told me, my leading skills is not bad, they could feel the rhythme of waltz's rise and fall, and didn't need to think about what steps she should step,(such as spin, reverse, natural turn, ouside change, weave from pp).

...well....

Thanks you

john shue
