Hi Waltz123,
Is it all right for me to print the exercises for handing out? Your URL is listed at the top, so they'll know where the information is coming from. The leading/following exercises are presented very well, and I think would be most helpful to some of my students.

Weddingdance,

We'd actually prefer that you support the website by purchasing the written transcript of the lesson.

For information about purchasing lesson transcripts and other various forms of sponsorship, check out the following page: www.ballroomdancers.com/sponsorship.htm .

Thank you for asking.

Sincerely,
Jonathan

Good dance lesson. Very well presented. Just one quick comment --

You make no mention of the lead-follow principle that states that an object (or follower, as the case may be), once set in motion, will tend to stay in motion until acted upon by another force (presumably another action by the leader).

In other words, it's not necessary to have a "eight connection" over every step. Once you start the follower moving in a direction, you can let go and she should still keep going.

Do you not subscribe to this theory?

Sorry... that should read "weight connection", not "eight connection".

WCSwingMan,

Yes and no. It depends a great deal on the context, and frankly the issue was just too big and complicated to tackle in one lesson. I mean, the theory itself is simple enough, but the question of when and where and howe to use it make it a very complex issue on the whole. So for simplicity's sake, we only introduced the most fundamental of concepts.

But perhaps in future lessons, we can talk about that one, too...

Sincerely,
Jonathan Atkinson www.ballroomdancers.com

Nice mambo move, but I think that steps 16-19 on written lady's part are the man's part-looks like a typo to me.

Stan,

Looks like you're right. I will fix that. Thank you.
