I've seen line dance styles for med swing songs, but I've never been anywhere where it is taught. I know that the regulars down at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland do this style. My original impression was that it was very down low to the ground, almost to the point where it looked like the dancers were drunk (they'd almost fall over, but they'd catch themselves).

Does anybody know what this style of swing/jazz dance is called? I'm eagerly interested in learning and adapting on this style. Please let me know what online or published resources are out there for me to utilize concerning swing "line dance" styles (for the lack of knowing a better term).

Only one I know of is the Shim Sham Shimmy. If there is a local swing club in your area they probably do this and will teach it.

Basically, there are three swing line dances:

--The Madison
--The Shim-Sham Shimmy (or 'Shim-Sham')
--The Jitterbug Stroll

You can find such stuff on the Internet. They
will often show you the history of the dance and even the details of the step patterns. For
example, type "Jitterbug Stroll" on a Yahoo!
search and you will find it.

However, it was difficult to find a site for
The Madison at this time.

I did a little bit more research. Perhaps the dance style I'm thinking of is "The Shim Sham" (sometimes The Shim Sham Shimmy).

Let me know if anybody has had any experience with Swing line dances. Which ones do you think are most adabtable to different music styles, and which do you think are easiest to learn/teach?

I must let you know all my life i have loved to dance but growing up it was considered a bad thing so somehow i let that part of me go just because it was such a bad thing to do but that psalm mention makes things seem better if anything dancing has helped me with some of the toughest moments in my life it kind of lifts you up to another level just wanted to say thankyou
