Bolero

We just switched to a new instructor and along with this is a change in the basic bolero step. We use to use the side to side steps on slow beat and forward/back steps on quick quick beat. What we have now is forward/back steps on slow beat and another forward/back step on the quick quick beat. This is our first time to encounter this basic bolero step and we are not so sure if this is just style or the modern way of doing bolero?

Thanks.

While this may be confusing, going forward and back on the slow counts is perfectly OK. It amounts to a progressive action, like the one in Mambo. It isn't done terribly often as a full basic action, and is more common as part of another figure. Your instructor probably has a valid reason for introducing this basic to you.
