6. Promenade With Right Turn Fact Sheet
The transition from promenade to closed position can be accomplished in one of three ways: (1) Lady can turn to man, (2) man can turn to lady, or (3) man and lady can split the difference and turn to each other. In Promenade with Left Swivel, the lady swivels on her left foot to close to the man. The Promenade with Right Turn is the converse, whereby the man turns to the right to close to the lady. However, the man's turn is not an in-place swivel on the end of the second step; It's a slightly more gradual turn between the second and third step. When the man turns around the lady, his first step following the turn is back on the left foot, which begins a Natural Tango Close. When the promenade moves along line of dance, the Natural Tango Close is turned 3/8 to right to end with man facing diagonal center. In a corner, less turn can be made, such as 1/4 to right to end facing new line of dance, or 1/8 to right to end facing diagonal center thereof.
