1a. Closed Basic Movement
The Closed Basic Movement is taken in closed facing position, with a forward or back break (2,3) alternating with a chasse to the side (4&1). The forward break is taken with the left foot, the back break with the right.

The figure can be danced without any turn (as shown), or with up to 1/8 turn left per measure, or 1/4 throughout the entire figure. The turn should take place at the end of the breaks and throughout the Chasses. That is to say, the turn begins at the end of step 2 and continues through to step 5. The same process repeats at the end of step 7 and through to step 10.
